Emely Taveras is at work on her debut novel, a Dominican American saga of a queer woman confronting maternal abandonment, sisterhood, and the secrets a father took to his grave. A Truman Capote Fellow in Fiction at the Iowa Writers' Workshop, she has received fellowships and support from Lambda Literary and the Lighthouse Writers Workshop and was the winner of the Peatsmoke Journal’s 2025 Editor's Prize. Her fiction appears in The Branches Journal, Peatsmoke Journal and Expat Press, with a story forthcoming in Lambda Literary's Emerge Anthology.
Born in NYC and raised in the New Jersey, she currently lives in Iowa City.
